Tier 4 visa rules for students wishing to study UFP

You may get Tier 4 visa to study a Foundation course only at institutions that are rated as High Trusted Sponsors (HTS) by the UK Border Agency (UKBA)
UFP is a foundation course equivalent to a National Qualifcation Framework (NQF) Level 3. To obtain a Tier 4 visas to study at NQF Level 3 you must be sponsored by High Trusted Sponsor (HTS). Both David Game College and Bath Academy offer UFP are HTS and will therefore be able to sponsor your Tier 4 visa. In order to meet the requirement for

Furthermore in order for sponsorship, you will need to score 40 points on the Point Based System which can be achieved as follows:

1. 30 points score by getting a CAS
2. 10 points be demonstrating the ability to support your studies financially.

Guidelines for your Visa application

According to the British High Commission or Embassy, in order to apply for your Visa to study at the level of University Foundation Programme (UFP) which is equivalent to National Qualifcation Framework (NQF) Level 3, you will need to support your visa application form with the following:
It is your responsibility to make sure you have the most recent guidelines and application checklist provided by your local embassy. The college has highlighted the most important documents needed for the application process but cannot possibly list everything. Please note that if even one required item for the application is missing or not original your visa will be refused.

1. CAS

A Confrmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) number issued by a licensed High Trusted Sponsor (HTS) UK institution which is the case for both UFP centres

2. English Qualifcation

If you are not from a majority-English speaking country: you will have to take a secure English Language Test such as IELTS or TOEFL proving that you are competent in the English language at a minimum level of B1 on the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) before we can issue you with a CAS

3. Finances

Documents to show that you have enough finances to support you during your studies in the UK. You need to show evidence that you have the following:

• Maintenance for 1 year: £7,200 for London and £5,400 for Bath (outside London)
• Remaining unpaid amount for tuition fees for the UFP course

The money must be in your OWN account or your parent/legal guardian’s account. Currencies other than Pound Sterling are acceptable provided the amount is equivalent. The funds must have been in the account for at least 28 days prior to the application for a Visa is made. The date of issue of the bank statement or letter must not be more than 28 days prior to application for your visa.

When bank statements are not in English, they must be translated, the amounts shown in equivalent Pounds Sterling and notarized. Check with local visa offce for special additional requirements

If the bank account is in your parent(s) name, you must provide your Birth Certifcate showing your name and your parents’ names clearly. If the bank account is in your legal guardian’s name, you must provide your Certifcate of Adoption or Court Document naming yourself, the student and the parent/legal guardian.

You must also provide a letter from your parent(s) or legal guardian confrming your relationship to them and stating that they will support you financially for the duration of your course.

4. Original Academic Qualifcations

The original documents that you presented to the College during the application process (e.g. WAEC, O-Level certifcate, High School transcript) will need to be submitted. Any documents not in English need to be offcially translated and accompanied with the original certifcate.

5. Students under age 18

If you are under the age of 18 at the time of application your parents must provide a Letter of Consent in support of your application, confrming they have the ability to support you fnancially during your studies.

It is your responsibility to ensure that you apply for your VISA in good time. Should you be unable to attend the frst day of class you must keep the college informed of when you will arrive in the UK. If you fail to do so the college must report you to the UKBA and your visa will be cancelled.

Changing College

Tier 4 visas are tied to their Sponsor Place of study.

If you wish to change college or place of study and have a student visa issued before the 5th of October 2009 that is valid for the entirety of the new course, you may simply notify the UKBA to transfer to your new Sponsor. If your visa was issued after 5th of October 2009, you must apply for a new visa with us as a new Sponsor. We will give you full advice on this

Students studying UFP, are not allowed to work

Visa Refusal

If you are refused a visa due to clearly not heeding to the above guidelines, the College may choose to retain your deposit and may not re-sponsor your application.
